Fine tuning is our newest music feature. Dropping approximately every 2-3 weeks, it’s goal is to act as a sort of one-stop-shop for some of the more interesting recent rock and metal releases.

With the above in mind, for your aural pleasure we now present Fine Tuning #4.

Late Edition


Alestorm – “Fucked with an Anchor”

Silly Scottish pirate metallers Alestorm have, in the past few days, just dropped their latest album  No Grave But the Sea. Over the past month or so they have been releasing songs as previews for what’s to come. The latest, and most utterly silly of them all, is Fucked with an Anchor. As you may suspect, this is lyrically not safe for work! Haha!


Egypt – “Cracks and Lines”

The Dakotan quartet are preparing to release their third album this coming June. To whet our appetites, these psychedelic / stoner / desert rock doomsters have made the 11-minute title track available available to stream.


Emyn Muil – “The Lay Of Númenorë”

Emyn Muil is the brainchild of Saverio Giove (ValtyrYmir), the founder of Nartum Music Projects. This particular project of his sees him explore the numerous works of legendary fantasy author J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle Earth through the medium of epic black metal. Their second album have just been released, and here is a track from it.


Hibushibire – “Trepanation Breakdown”

Psychedelic music seems to be on something of a resurgence, and there’s a fantastc array of psych-influenced bands dotted across the vast spectrum of rock and metal. Hibushibire are a Japanese psychedelic noise rock band that making a few waves on Riot Season records. Earlier this year they released their album Freak Our Orgasm!, and you can check out a track from that below.


Mountaineer – “Good Night”

These Californian post-rockers are getting a decent amount of praise in pre-release reviews for their debut album Sirens & Slumber. You can check out one of the lead singles from that below.


Nineteen Fifty Eight – “Dark Blue”

Dark Blue is the title track from this talented alternative rock quintet’s upcoming EP.

Orden Ogan – “Gunman”

Cut from a similar cloth to that of Blind Guardian and Gamma Ray, Orden Ogan are an epic power metal band that love their riffs. This past week they released a video for Gunman, the lead single from their uncoming album Gunmen. 


Seven Kingdom – “Kingslayer”

We’ve had a black metal band inspired by Tolkien, now here’s a power metal band inspired by George R. R. Martin!

Floridian power thrashers Seven Kingdoms  released their fourth album Decennium earlier this month. Coinciding with this was the release of the below video for their latest single Kingslayer.


Skyligers – “The Hunted”

Chilled out post-rockers Skyligers are gearing up for the release of their latest EP, Into the Woods. That drops on Bank Holiday Monday, but you can wrap your eyes and ears around the lead single from it below.

Stateside – “The Way We Were”

Another talented alt. rock band, this time all the way from Brisbane, Australia. Taken from their just released EP Naïve, this is the video for the single The Way We Were.
